UAP Group is pleased to announce that our Chairman, Deputy Lyndon Trott OBE, has been appointed as Chair of the Trustees of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Charitable Funds.

This significant appointment follows the recent implementation of the ‘Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and International Committee of the Red Cross (Status) Act 2025’. The legislation establishes a framework that elevates the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s status to be consistent with other comparable international organisations.
A Prestigious Appointment
Deputy Trott, who currently serves as Guernsey’s Chief Minister, will be stepping down from the Guernsey Assembly in July but will continue his involvement in international parliamentary affairs through this new role.
“This is a major post and I am very honoured to have been appointed to it,” Deputy Trott commented. “This also reflects well on the reputation that Guernsey has as a well-regulated jurisdiction, as confirmed by the recent Moneyval report. Being chair of the CPA Charitable Funds does not require me to be a sitting member of the States, and I am delighted that I will be able to continue this link with the parliamentary world when I leave the Assembly in July.”
Strengthening Guernsey’s International Presence
The appointment underscores both Deputy Trott’s leadership capabilities and Guernsey’s growing influence on the international stage. The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association connects parliamentarians and parliamentary staff from over 180 legislatures across the Commonwealth, promoting knowledge-sharing and democratic governance principles.
UAP Group extends its warmest congratulations to Deputy Trott on this prestigious appointment and looks forward to the positive impact his leadership will bring to this important international organisation.
